Reclaiming Personal Power: How To Empower Your True Self

Reclaiming Personal Power: How To Empower Your True Self

Jun 26, 2023

No matter what's going on, we all have personal power inside us that can help us rise above fear. Personal power means believing in ourselves. Knowing that we are important, and feeling confident enough to take control of our lives.

When we embrace our personal power, we refuse to let fear control us. We understand that we have the ability to control our thoughts, feelings, and actions. Even when things around us feel overwhelming.

By practicing self-empowerment techniques we become the ones in charge of our lives, creating the reality we want on our own terms.

Positive Affirmations

Positive affirmations are like powerful statements that we say to ourselves to boost our confidence and belief in ourselves.

Here's how you can use affirmations:

Choose empowering words:

  • Pick positive words and phrases that make you feel strong and capable. For example, "I can do anything I set my mind to," or "I am worthy of love and respect."

  • Repeat them daily. Say your affirmations out loud or write them down. Repeat them every day, especially when your inner demon tries to derail your alignment. Believe in them with all your heart.

Setting Boundaries = Reclaiming Personal Power

Setting boundaries means deciding what is okay and not okay for us. It's about respecting ourselves and making sure others treat us with kindness and respect. Here's how you can set boundaries:

  • Know yourself. The truth is, when you are confident, you unconsciously set invisible boundaries. You will have a presence about you where others sense how far they can push you. And most often, they won't dare.

  • Stay true to yourself. Don't let people you care about suck you into doing things that go against your true self. Ever.

  • Stand firm. Never 'give in'. When you go against your true self, you are teaching people your boundaries are negotiable. They are not.

Taking Inspired Action

Taking inspired action means doing things that make us feel empowered and excited about our lives. It also means doing things when you feel 'inspired' - when you get inspiration.

Inspired action is the opposite of forcing things to be done.
You know, that heavy feeling you get when you tell yourself you 'have' to do something...versus that great inspired feeling you get when you get the impulse to call a friend.

You may think that you'll never get inspired to do the things you hate to do, but you will. As soon as you start doing things that bring you joy, as mentioned below in 'follow your passions', the inspiration will arise seemingly out of nowhere.

What this means is, if, in the moment of inspiration, you do that 'thing' you hate, it will get done quickly, efficiently, and correctly.
So much so, you'll have time to spare - to go do more things that bring you joy :)

Here's what inspired action looks like:

  • Follow your passions. Discover what you love to do and what makes you feel happy and alive. Make time for those activities and go after them with enthusiasm.

  • Set goals. Ok the real truth is, I don't believe in setting goals. I know...everybody and their dog says to set goals but I find intentions are much better.

Goals deny you the flexibility of other possible outcomes. Intentions are inward motivators. Focused on your mindset and habits - leaving you open to more possibilities than a strict goal will allow.

That being said, set your intentions about what you want to achieve. Then break them down into small, achievable steps.

Take action towards your intentions (with inspired action) and celebrate your progress along the way. Celebrating is key. That could simply look like an acknowledgment that you did what you set out to do.

What you don't want to do is blow it off just because it had to be done. Following through on intentions is what gives us inner power, strength, and belief in ourselves.

Remember, reclaiming personal power is something we can all do.

The power is inside you. It's about believing in your true self and taking action that aligns with your passions and dreams.

And always remember - those who try to have you believe otherwise, aren't dreaming your dream.

Don't take offense. It's not about you. People don't do things to you. They do things for themselves.
